**CBS to air movie on 'courageous' Polish Catholic who rescued Jewish children
*This is really an amazing story and I am really surprised that it has made it to the mainstream. It is airing tonight at 9 PM Eastern: *
On Sunday evening CBS will broadcast a movie about the heroic efforts and “courageous heart” of Irena Sendler, a Polish Catholic social worker who created and led an underground group that rescued Jewish children from Nazi persecution.
It is even more amazing that this is being shown on Divine Mercy Sunday! God is good!Here is more on Irena from one of my previous posts:I found this at the Rural Revolution site. Rural Revolution is the site of Patrice Lewis and is very well worth visiting!Irena Sendler passed away last year and her story is one everyone should hear about:During WWII, Irena got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto as a plumbing/sewer specialist. She had an ulterior motive. She KNEW what the Nazis' plans were for the Jews (being German). Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack (for larger kids). She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kid/infant noises. During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants. She was caught, and the Nazis broke both her legs, arms, and beat her severely. Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it and reunited the family. Most of course had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted. - Last year Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize. She was not selected. Al Gore won, for a slide show on Global Warming. I am appalled that the World would fail to recognize the true Humanity of Human Suffering and giving of oneself when it failed to give the Nobel Peace Price to Irene Sendler.Her unselfish acts went unnoticed- her deeds went without fanfare and world wide recognition because she did it for the right reason- for Human Kind. Instead where is the world coming to- we give the Nobel Peace Prize to global warming Al Gore whose main purpose is for the GLORIFICATION OF HIS OWN self worth- This to me is the ultimate in disgust. I can't believe that Gore would actually think he is so great as to DESERVE a Nobel Peace Prize- He has done NOTHING UNSELFISH, WHAT HAS HE DONE that has advanced others so that they are the ones who ARE RECOGNIZED for being who they are? I hope Al Gore can live with himself- he doesn't deserve any award and should have rejected it. There those of us who know the real HERO and she is Irena Sendler- she did her work without expectation of a reward- she never wanted glory- she never did it for anything but what the real HUMAN suffering and care is all about. I am thankful for Irena Sendler and she is the true SYMBOL OF WHAT THE nobel peace prize should have been, not what the Nobel Peace Prize has become.
Thank you to Ed for bringing the story of Irena Sendler to my attention. Why oh why does our country fail to share really important news features to the public? May God have mercy of them all. May God give us some voices to hear NOW!!!!!!!!

This was/is a great story. I shared the Hallmark movie with my students during our Holocaust study in reading. They as am I are appalled that she did not get the Nobel Prize.
I wish she would win the Nobel Peace Prize for her brave actions.
